How To Join and Become a Union Carpenter

Apprentices

No experience is necessary. If you would like to learn the carpentry, and/or drywall/lathing trade by attending State approved classes and while working on the job, you can complete an apprentice application form and submit to the Apprenticeship Training Division. Applications can be obtained at the Carpenters Union office and sometimes at your local Employment Development Department.  Minimum Qualification: Applicants must be at least seventeen (17) years of age.  Applicants less than eighteen (18) years of age shall have the apprentice agreement signed by a parent or guardian.  Each qualified applicant will be listed on an LTC new applicant referral list, in the order in which the application is received and will be assigned a sequential referral number.  The new applicant referral list will be used to refer applicants to the Union for dispatch to jobs with the geographical area that is set out below. In order to be admitted to the
carpentry apprenticeship program, a qualified applicant must first obtain a job through this referral system.  You will join Carpenters Local 25 upon being dispatched to your first job.  For more information on the apprenticeship program see Training.
